Content creation and communication are at the heart of today’s successful business plans, and Kellie Artis is the woman behind the communication plan for Virtual Veterans Communities.

A native of South Carolina, Kellie is a military spouse and a native of South Carolina with a degree in Corporate Communications from the College of Charleston. Kellie thrives on building and fostering communities -- many of them focused on the military community. Since December of 2020, Kellie has served as the Director of Communications for Virtual Veterans Communities.

Kellie’s job includes creating and implement the content and communications strategy for the company, she said. But it’s more than that.

“I’m also responsible for creating and producing content for our social media channels, managing a writer and editorial content for our VVC blog and implementing other innovative projects such as a syndicated video event series coming later this year,” she said.

Kellie, a night owl, is a coffee drinker, "black, in large quantities, preferably pour-over," she specified. And she loves learning new things, which explains her current obsession. She loves learning about some obscure new thing on YouTube University and she's enthralled with Masterclass.

When it comes to her role as director of communications, Kellie is working to build a brand that will help organizations that are directly impacting the lives of veterans and their families.

“It’s our goal to improve the experiences that veterans have in higher education and help universities better understand how to do that and support them through their transition journey,” she said. “I love creating the strategy to formalize that message, communicate it through various channels and meet the needs of our partners and student veterans.”

Kellie is known for the outgoing persona that we see online, but she revealed that she's pretty introverted in real life. Though now we know that her spunk may be attributed to all the coffee she drinks.

While she may be nontraditional with her love for Zoom, she isn't quite as rebellious as others. She admits to pouring in the cereal before her milk and orders a plain latte when treating herself at Starbucks.

Among her hobbies, Kellie enjoys a good book, one of her current favorites (she can't choose just one) is "The Complete Enneagram" by Beatrice Chestnut. As an Enneagram 5, she embraces her long, rambling book list.

"I usually have three books going at one time, an audiobook, one on the e-reader and a physical copy," she said.
