Meet the New Outreach and Career Programs Manager
Jill New serves as the Outreach and Career Programs Manager and is excited to join the VVC team. As a Georgia native, she bucked tradition and headed across the border to attend school at Auburn University. There she earned her undergraduate degree in French and International Trade. Jill also holds a Master of Arts from Old Dominion University and a certificate of language studies in French from the Universite'de l'Ouest in Angers, France.
Jill has been a Navy spouse for the last 16 years, working with the local Hiring our Heroes Military Spouse Professional Network in her current location in Florida and previously when she lived in Hampton Roads, Virginia. She also worked on the Blueprint 2030 for Military & Veterans Affairs with the Virginia Chamber.
Over her 18-year career in higher education and workforce development, Jill worked as the Student Employment Program Planner at ODU. She also has experience managing youth programs in the nonprofit sector and human resources. She's a member of the National Association for Colleges and Employers.
Jill loves her job of connecting student veterans with employers and said her favorite part is seeing students get excellent jobs.
Reading between the lines of Jill's educational pursuits and her favorite television show, Downton Abbey, it's not hard to believe that she enjoys reading history books. She also refers to herself as a "self-professed European royalty lover."
As a true southern, Jill switches to sweet tea after her morning coffee, loves Thanksgiving, and she's an Auburn (War Eagle!) fan tried and true. She also loves working in the yard and being with her family.
